SOUND DEVICES‘ SOUND NOTES TECHNICAL REFERENCE GOES LIVE ON THE WEB

Sound Devices, a manufacturer of industry-leading portable digital audio recorders and mixers, has activated the new Sound Notes Technical Reference initiative live on the web. The information base provides users with application-specific information for Sound Devices products and general audio applications. The web activation was announced at AES 2007.

“Sound Notes is a great resource for any customer wanting to learn more about production sound and the nuances of our products,” says Joe Ramos, technical specialist for Sound Devices. “The entire package is available as an RSS subscription feed, so that new notes appear for subscribers automatically.”

Sound Notes Technical Reference was implemented as a searchable index of technical articles, notes, and how-to information relating to general professional audio applications and the specific use of Sound Devices‘ products. All information is organized by categories with many of the “notes” coming from the wide range of inquiries from the Sound Devices‘ user base. A list of searchable categories is found on the left side of the web page and articles can be searched by using key words in the appropriate search box.

The page is being constantly updated with new insights and information (www.sounddevices/notes). Sound Notes is also available as an RSS feed. In supporting browsers, an icon will appear in the address bar indicating that the page can be added as a feed. The most recent seven articles will appear automatically in the list (www.sounddevices.com/notes/feed).

AVIOM TO SHOWCASE MH10F MERGER HUB WITH FIBER AT WFX 2007

Aviom, exclusive developer of the world‘s premier audio transport technology, will feature its new MH10f Merger Hub with Fiber at WFX 2007 (Booth # 628).

The MH10f Merger Hub is designed to merge and distribute A-Net® data streams and provide a host of professional features to make audio networking with Pro64 Series products easy to set up and configure in multiple professional audio environments.

The MH10f offers unprecedented flexibility and simplicity in system design with features and performance created specifically for networking and distributing audio. The MH10f holds 10 bidirectional A-Net® ports. Eight ports use EtherCon RJ45 connectors, while the remaining two hold SFP slots.

The 10-port MH10f Merger Hub supports parallel connections in a Pro64 audio network with integrated fiber optic connectivity. In Pro64 systems running in Auto Mode, the Merger Hub creates a single network stream, which is redistributed out all 10 ports. This ensures that all 64 audio channels are available throughout the network, regardless of the physical location of any audio input or output. Channels can be physically located off any combination of the 10 ports, even through multiple Mergers.

In a Manual Mode system, the Merger Hub accommodates three preset configurations, allowing users to optimize the way each point merges and distributes audio channels. Each configuration preserves the bidirectionality of the system, even as inputs are separated physically off various legs of a hub.

The MH10f can also be used to provide the protection of a backup cable for main runs, as in a digital snake. The Merger Hub will also merge Aviom‘s Virtual Data Cable™ data, allowing Pro64 devices to send and share control data effortlessly over long cable distances (up to 400ft/120m between devices).

AVIOM INTRODUCES SOLUTIONS FOR “THE SANCTUARY & BEYOND” AT WFX 2007

Aviom, maker of the popular Pro16 personal monitor mixing system, is introducing audio solutions with applications in “the Sanctuary and Beyond” at WFX 2007 (Booth #628).

Churches large and small have come to know and appreciate Aviom for its award-winning personal monitoring system, which has been responsible for solving the common problem of excess stage volume in the sanctuary and improved the worship experience at those churches as a result. Now, that same problem-solving technology has been applied to new products and solutions that can easily distribute, connect and direct audio to any location in the church facility or campus where people need to hear the message or the music.

Aviom will bring to WFX ‘07 more of its unique brand of sophisticated yet reliable and easy-to-use technology for places beyond the sanctuary platform stage and monitor mixing. For example, the new Pro64 Series runs over the same inexpensive, easy-to-install Cat-5 wiring, but is a more robust audio transport platform than its Pro16 cousin.

WFX attendees will see how to extend the Aviom system that so many churches have come to love for applications that can unify the entire church audio system with simplicity, efficiency and consistency. Those applications include:

• Pro16 Digital Snake Over Cat-5 - Any Aviom personal monitor mixing system is easily expandable for audio distribution around and beyond the sanctuary with a modular digital snake with splits.

• Aviom-Yamaha Pro64 Digital Snake with Remote Control - The Aviom-Yamaha connection is well known among houses of worship. Now, the power and simplicity of A-Net® are easily attainable simply by connecting a new 6416Y2 Interface card to any Yamaha digital console or mix engine.

• Tie Lines for Analog and Digital Audio - Tie lines are crucial in unifying a live venue to a recording room or broadcast facility. A simple and proven solution for tie lines, the Pro64 Series, featuring the new 6461dio Digital I/O module, can help make broadcasting or recording any live event inside the sanctuary a success.
