Frank Wolf Mixes George Clooney‘s “Leatherheads”

Los Angeles, CA, November, 2007 - Award-winning scoring mixer Frank Wolf recently completed sessions for “Leatherheads” at Ocean Way‘s Stage M at Paramount Pictures. In operation since 1932, the Stage M control room and mammoth scoring stage was shuttered in July, 2006, and reopened this year under the auspices of Ocean Way Recording.

Wolf was mixing the Randy Newman score for the George Clooney-directed “Leatherheads,” in which Clooney stars alongside Renee Zellweger. The film is a romantic comedy set in the world of 1920s football, where the owner of a professional team drafts a college sensation, with ensuing humorous complications.

“Stage M is a great, big theatrical control room to work in,” says Frank Wolf, seated at the 96-input Neve VR Legend console. “Working here gives you a good perspective on the sound of a large movie theater.” The large scoring stage, with a 1.2 second natural reverberation, easily accommodates 100+ musicians for orchestral dates. in the past, the studio has hosted sessions for the classic scores of such films as “The Ten Commandments,” “Psycho,” “Sunset Boulevard,” and “Out of Africa.” Prior to the Clooney project, Wolf also mixed “Hairspray” at Stage M.

“The crew here is top notch,” continues Wolf. “Chief tech Norm Dlugatch has operated the studio for many years and Dave Dubow is responsible for booking the room and making sure everything is working perfectly. I worked with Dave for years at Signet Sound, so it‘s great to have him here at Stage M.”
