Anaheim, CA, Winter NAMM 2008 — Berkleemusic, the continuing education division of Boston‘s renowned Berklee College of Music, celebrated at Winter NAMM its fifth anniversary of teaching music online, as well as its current rank as the world‘s largest online music school.

“Since our inaugural announcement at NAMM in 2002 we have seen tremendous growth with the online school,” said Dave Kusek, VP of Berklee Media. “As the business of music has continued to move online, we have taken a leadership role to educate the next generation of producers, performers, and entrepreneurs in this rapidly evolving industry landscape.”

In five short years Berkleemusic has developed over 130 instructor-led online courses and programs, has taught 22,000 students in 70 countries, and has become the premier online training partner for the industry’s music software manufacturers. Musicians can take college credit courses and programs in music production, music business, guitar & bass, music theory, harmony and ear training, songwriting and arranging studying directly with Berklee’s renowned faculty.

Berkleemusic has over 200 industry partners and has developed accredited online courses and programs with Ableton, Apple, DigiDesign, Cakewalk, IK Multimedia, MOTU, Musicians Friend, Propellerhead, Native Instruments, Steinberg, and Waves.

Timothy Self, SVP of Propellerhead remarked, “Berkleemusic allows us to provide trusted Reason-based curriculum and training anywhere in the world so users can take their production skills closer to their musical dreams.”

Berkleemusic continues to develop curriculum to support its partners and is adding a growing number of courses to expand its catalog.

Students who have studied online with Berkleemusic include Scott Underwood (drummer in Train, Grammy Award-winners for Drops of Jupiter), Kristen Henderson (guitarist in Antigone Rising), Zac Baird (keyboardist for Korn), Danny Weinkauf (touring bassist in They Might be Giants), Barry Kerch (drummer in Shinedown), Matt Bachand (guitarist in Shadow‘s Fall), Justin Shekoski (guitarist for Saoisn), Chris Kirckpatrick (N*Sync), and Fanny Lu (Award-winning Latin Artist).
