DPA SOUND INVEST IN MORE DIGICO CONSOLES
In September 2007, DPA Sound took delivery of two DiGiCo consoles, a D1 and a CS-D5. The Danish company was so impressed with its purchase, it decided to invest in even more DiGiCo desks at the beginning of this year, with the addition of two more CS-D5s and another D1.
Kim Johansen, a consultant for the Danish DiGiCo distributors Soundware confirmed that DPA Sound Co A/S requested the three consoles; no selling of the products was required. According to Johansen, the reason DPA chose the desks again was because of the “flexibility of the DiGiCo systems, and of course the sound quality. DPA like the fact that the same consoles have the ability to do theatre, corporate and music. The company also received great feedback from other users.”
The desks have already been used for a number of tours with Danish bands, including those of Tina Dickow, TV-2, Big Fat Snake, Poul Krebs, Thomas Helmig and Nephew. “Comments made by sound engineers who used the desks on the tours include ‘Good preamps‘, ‘Lots of headroom‘, ‘Wider stereo perspective‘, and ‘Easy to use‘,” said Johansen. “I personally love the service you receive from DiGiCo. It‘s very good. There is always someone on the other end of a phone line to help.”
The CS-D5 digital mixing system provides the full, extensive feature set of the D5 Live, with the exception of the optical I/O, creating a D5 Live at a price point that is competitive with more basic consoles. The CS-D5 includes a full 48 busses - ideal for coping with the ever-increasing use of in-ear monitors - and up to128 input channels, which can be increased with extra DSP to 160. 41 touch sensitive faders, four touch screens and multi-operator ability give direct instant access to crucial parameters, despite the compact frame size.
The D1 is based on the award-winning D5, the console that broke the mould of digital live mixing. The D1 provides the same outstanding sonic purity and much of its powerful, instantly accessible control at an access all areas price point.
