MusicBox Debuts Revolutionary New Online Suite of Music Search Capabilities

a-b_small.JPG

Calabasas, CA, September 23, 2008 – MusicBox, a leading music production company that provides thousands of cuts from its original music catalog, as well as original composition and scoring for television programs, promos, films, and commercials, has unveiled a revolutionary new suite of online music search and collaboration applications. MusicBox’s new web modules “MusicBox LIVE, “MusicBox Update and “MusicBox Files embody the company’s ongoing commitment to convenience, responsiveness to industry demand, and customer service. (Please visit: www.musicboxmx.com )

For the sake of efficiency, convenience and the environment, MusicBox is now able to deliver 100% of their content via www.musicboxmx.com, while still affording customers the option of choosing AIFF, WAV, or mp3 formats in all of the typical sample and compression rates. All library content from MusicBox is SoundMiner compatible, and is also searchable via iTunes, Protools Digi Browser and similar DAWs. For “old schoolers, MusicBox will also continue to make audio discs available on request.

“MusicBox LIVE is the newest and most effective search and download engine in the history of the production music industry. With a unique and intuitive interface, engaging color scheme and more metadata per track than virtually any other library, “MusicBoxLIVE allows for extensive Genre and Mood searches without requiring the user to have an extensive musical vocabulary.

For example, “MusicBox LIVE offers about a dozen major genres, with each genre offering between 6 and 20 sub-categories within it. The same applies to mood, with categories such as “Positive broken into 12 sub categories, ranging from “warm to “magical. A user may choose a desired mood and genre, enter any keyword that might then narrow the search further and add an instrument if preferred. Conversely, one may choose to browse by “disc. “MusicBox LIVE Makes this search easy with full color CD artwork, a brief description of each disc, and common sense disc titles like “Monster Metal or “Techno Edge.

The new MusicBox web module “MusicBox Update is geared toward hard disc and network storage-based clientele. It is designed to deliver an entire disc’s-worth of material in one easy to download zip file. In this manner, clients can continually update their MusicBox catalogue on their own schedules, as soon as the music becomes available, and without having to rip from audio CDs or copy from DVDs.

The third new MusicBox web module, “MusicBox Files, is a collaborative FTP area, allowing clients and MusicBox personnel the ability to share video and audio, or to facilitate quick delivery of custom music.

Longtime MusicBox client Lee Brooks, Music Production Executive with Grey Advertising NYC, said, “What was already a user-friendly search engine has now been made even more streamlined with the new ‘MusicBox LIVE.’ It makes my job easier, the process faster, and helps me deliver a better product to my clients.

Adds Carter Figueroa, Coordinating Producer, A&E, “’MusicBox LIVE’ is so easy to navigate. The multiple search functions allow you to hone in on that perfect track. And if you’re just browsing, you can scale it back and only use one of the search fields to quickly comb through the library.”

Daniel Stein, co-founder & President of MusicBox said, “The days of music production companies providing their clients with CDs are waning fast. More and more often, producers and editors are only working online, or via hard drives or servers, and our new suite of web modules addresses this evolving market comprehensively. Furthermore, since music is all about emotion, and how producers influence their audiences with music, the categories we use to describe and lay out our library become very important. We believe that the subjectivity of music requires that emotional parameters be used to describe its effect on members of the listening audience.”

ABOUT MUSICBOX:

Led by co-founders and composers Daniel Stein and Joel Goodman, MusicBox provides all genres of music to network and cable TV programs, TV promos, major motion pictures, independent films, movie trailers, national advertising campaigns and radio spots. The company’s library, comprised of five collections entitled “MusicBox, “PromoBox, “Cue, “MusicBox Classics and “Private Reserve, collectively provide over 200 premium quality discs, and over 7500 musical tracks, for the discerning film/television producer or editor.

MusicBox also composes, produces and records original themes, underscore, custom promo music and transitions that are unique and exclusive to each project, by calling upon its diverse staff of composers based in both New York and Los Angeles.
