BUENA PARK, Calif.─Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. announces the delivery of its new Installation Series subwoofer, Model IS1112. Ideal for smaller, full-ranged IS models, Yamaha IS1112W is the perfect subwoofer to achieve naturally extended low-end response in models used for primary delivery. The Yamaha IS Speaker Series has achieved much success in installations requiring seamlessly-integrated hardware, meeting the expectations of contractors and end users requiring superior audio quality, and ease of installation and system design.

Significantly smaller than 12” subwoofers of other manufacture, the SW1112 delivers outstanding sonic performance and Yamaha reliability. The subwoofer features 2800 watt input capacity with peak 127 dB sound pressure level output. A large 4” voice coil is used for superior power handling and response. The new subwoofer has a direct connection to full-range units without the need for special speaker cables. Discrete nominal impedance measures 8Ω with power ratings delivered at 700W (Noise), 1400W (PGM), 2800W (Max). Discrete sensitivity measures 93dB SPL.

“Our contracting customers have requested that we develop a lower-cost, efficient sub-woofer for our smaller, Installation Series Speaker models,” states Albert Cardenas, speaker product marketing manager. “We believe the new SW1112 will satisfy their requirements.”

The SW1112 is easy to handle with flexible installation and includes 12 x M10 rigging points, two handles, a pole socket, NL4 and barrier strip connectors. Vibration damping rubber feet are supplied. The new sub is available in durable black or white exterior finish. Weighing in at only 53 lbs. the new Yamaha sub measures 14.9” x 15.5” x 17.9”.

The Yamaha SW1112 has an MSRP of $1,199 and is currently available.

NEXO LINE ARRAY SYMPOSIUM HELD AT CERRITOS CENTER

nexo-dealers-and-end-users-at-ycas-hq.jpgBUENA PARK, Calif.─Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. (YCAS) pulled out all stops when it brought key dealers, contractors and end users to the Cerritos Performing Arts Center for two-day demonstrations of NEXO line arrays including GEO T, GEO D, GEO S8 and the new GEO S12 Series. The demonstrations were held in mid-November at the performing arts venue located in Cerritos, California. “Speakers were powered by the new Yamaha and NEXO NXAmp as well as Yamaha Tn amplifiers and also included a preview of the new Yamaha SB168-ES Stage Box.

The first day, attendees were given a formal presentation with hands-on demonstrations at the YCAS training facility in Buena Park on the complete NEXO product line and GEO Soft line array calculator. The second day consisted of listening evaluations at the Cerritos Performing Arts Center where dealers, contractors and end users could hear the various models in a real-world software to hardware application and get a feel for ease of set up in various scenarios.

“All of the boxes were put together by YCAS staff and performed well,” states Jack Hayback, technical audio director for the Cerritos Center. The performing arts center recently installed a NEXO GEO D system. “Certain boxes work better for different applications, and every person I spoke with was impressed.” The Cerritos house NEXO GEO D system was displayed in the most offstage position. On stage, Yamaha ground stacked an Alpha E system and flew GEO Ts, S12s and S8s, which YCAS brought in for demonstration purposes. “There are some really great things that NEXO and Yamaha are doing together like the new GEO S12 speaker which is a passive box and sounds incredible,” says Hayback.

“When we began to distribute the NEXO line years ago, we knew that the only way people could decide what NEXO system would be best for their application was if we could demonstrate in a real world environment how they sound which is why we took them on regional road shows,” states Albert Cardenas, acoustic systems manager. “Now with the recent acquisition of NEXO France by Yamaha Corporation Japan, we are able to accelerate the demo process by adding more regional demonstrations as well as visits to our speaker demo room in Buena Park and to theaters, like Cerritos, that have systems installed.”
