PMT’s Music Production & Certification Program is offered at its Miami facility (1926 NE 154th St., No. Miami, FL 33162), located in the heart of North Miami’s legendary recording scene, blocks away from The Hit Factory/Criteria Studios and dozens of other music, TV and film studios.
ProMedia Training’s Miami Music Production & Certification Program—a 14-day, 112 clock-hour accelerated package¬—is one of PMT’s most comprehensive packages, geared towards the beginner-to-intermediate student. The Program includes four Digidesign certified courses, a mixing course, and a Reason course written by MIDI master Craig Anderton. The final Master Class, “All About Mixing, is hosted exclusively by Roger Nichols, who explores both the “science and the “art of mixing.
Throughout the curriculum, students will learn proper setup, recording, editing and mixing, go in-depth into the world of plug-ins, MIDI, beat detective, elastic audio and the art and science of mixing, and learn the ins and outs of Reason. Students will also work with sophisticated HD systems and control surfaces, and upon successfully completing the courses, will take the Digidesign exam for Certification. The package tuition also includes a free plug-in from Digidesign (valued at $500).

Mr. Cardenas will report to Franck Fabry, Director of Americas Export Sales, Communications Systems Division, Bosch Security Systems, Inc.
Prior to assuming his position at Bosch, Mr. Cardenas studied sound engineering for five years at the University of Technology in Santiago, Chile. He welcomes the challenge of bringing the Bosch family of products to greater prominence in South America.
“I’m very happy to join the Communications Systems team, says Mr. Cardenas. “And I’m very excited to bring its family of pro audio brands to Latin America. I am particularly excited to grow the Electro-Voice brand in this region. My goal is to help ensure EV products become the first choice for any major audio application in South America. With new technologies like NetMax and IRIS-Net, we will lead the way forward. From students at my former college to my colleagues in live sound production, I have a personal, hands-on understanding of what this region needs, and now I’m working with the best people and products to raise the bar for audio here.
“The addition of Fernando Perez to the Latin American sales team will allow us to better focus on the Ecuadorian, Peruvian, Bolivian, and Chilean markets comments Franck Fabry, Director of Americas Export Sales, Communications Systems Division, Bosch Security Systems, Inc. “Fernando’s enthusiasm and familiarity with professional audio, intercom, and conferencing equipment will be an enormous asset to our Bosch partners. Expanding its audio and production capabilities with the installation of two Soundcraft Vi4 digital mixing consoles, the University of the Arts recently completed a major audio installation in the Caplan Center for the Performing Arts. Both the 215-seat Recital Hall and the Studio Theater are equipped with separate Vi4 consoles, allowing University Of The Arts Sound Engineer, Scott Rosenthal, to mix with ease and confidence.
The University of the Arts was previously mixing on analog consoles and the migration to digital has seen an increase in both productivity and education value. Rosenthal’s decision to purchase the industry leading Vi4 for the Caplan Center has increased revenue for the University and has also given students added resources to enhance their post-graduate careers by recording ensembles and recitals for their portfolios.
“With multiple ensembles performing each night, all with a variety of instrumentation, the Vi4’s ‘show and cue’ feature provides a great advantage as I no longer need to incorporate copious notes and markings from the sound-checks, said Rosenthal. “With a simple push of a button, I can recall each setting for individual performances saving me valuable time and allowing me to really concentrate on the quality of sound.
Rosenthal maximizes the Vi4’s capabilities and utilizes the wealth of options to record performances as well as distribute the feeds to various locations in the University as well. Rosenthal comments, “Having the opportunity to work on the Vi4 has been a blessing and I can’t imagine ever going back to the limitations of analog mixing. The Vi4 has opened so many doors that I compare it to coming out of a cave and seeing light for the first time.
The Vi4 offers countless features including access of up to 72 inputs on 24 faders, with a total of 35 output busses available for use as masters, groups, auxes or matrices. The Vi4 also provides users with two of the most popular features from the Soundcraft Vi6, such as the highly acclaimed Vistonicsâ„¢ II touch-screen user interface and Soundcraft FaderGlowâ„¢ fader function display.

In an impressive installation that is a display of ultimate fidelity and power, BSS Audio Soundwebâ„¢ London was utilized for the Praterdome, one of the largest and most modern nightclubs in Austria. The nightclub has two levels, four dance floors and 12 theme bars, with DJs playing music styles from various decades and styles including, house, techno, R&B, soul, 70s, 80s, and 90s. The system was installed by German based sound integrator FACE. The installation features signal processing and audio distribution by Soundweb London BLU-160 devices.
Opened in October 2008, Praterdome is owned by MPC (Music Park Concepts), which spent over seven million Euros in the development of the nightclub. “We needed a sound system that was going to effectively cover the entire venue. With people constantly moving all over the facility, the sound quality needed to be consistent, stated Praterdome’s manager Thomas Zuchner.
Soundweb London features a low latency, fault tolerant digital audio bus of 256 channels which uses standard Category 5e cabling giving a distance of 100m between compatible devices. The BSS Audio MC-1 fiber optic media converter can be used to increase the distance between devices to over 10km (6.2 miles) using single mode fiber.
Additionally, JBL speakers were installed throughout the club. This includes 41 JBL SRX 728s, 18 JBL SRX 728s, and 16 JBL SRX 715s. Forty JBL Control 26Cs were incorporated as well. Additional Harman products in the installation include multiple Crown XTi 1000 amplifiers and CT3000 amplifiers. A total of 130 speakers and subwoofers create a sound system with a capacity of 100,000 watts.
