Re-Interpretation of the classic Stanley Church/MGM Design
Pictured at Germano Studios in NYC with a matched pair of TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik CineMics is producer/engineer Ed Tuton.
Troy Germano, owner of Germano Studios in NYC, has purchased two TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik large diaphragm tube CineMics. The matched pair are an interpretive recreation of the rare Stanley Church/MGM design, bringing the total number of TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik microphones to eight in the studios’ extensive collection.
“I was looking for a great matched pair of U47-style mics and there were less than 200 of this rare CineMike produced, so very few engineers have even experienced them,” explained Germano. “I’ve had such good luck with my other re-issues from TELEFUNKEN that I thought this pair, Serial #001 and #002, would really round out our collection. They’ve already created quite a sensation among our clients.”

Located in the station’s largest recording studio and used for the production of “NDR’s BIG BAND weekly radio broadcast of big band jazz music, the new system provides more options for monitor control than the previous set up.  The monitor mixing system previously used on the show afforded the 16 to 20 band members with only six channels of content, providing little room for customization. By contrast, Aviom’s personal mixing system gives each performer control over 16 channels of content, providing ample room for each musician to customize his or her monitor mix. Miami, FL – November 2009… Running sound for the touring concert crowd is a tough business—set up early, mix the show, tear everything down, move to the next location, and repeat it all over again according to the tour itinerary. When you consider this routine frequently also involves lighting equipment, backline (instruments), and possibly even staging, you begin to appreciate why roadies don’t know where they are half the time! One thing the road crew doesn’t need is a temperamental sound reinforcement system. That’s why Waverly, OH-based JSL Productions, who recently provided live sound reinforcement for the Christian rock band Fireflight, used their Aero Series 2 sound system from D.A.S. Audio.
JSL Productions, a full service audio and lighting production company that handles concerts, special events, equipment sales and rentals, as well as running an installation division, provided more
