SOUNDFIELD GOES TO HARVARD – Harvard’s New SoundField Mark V Microphone Broadens Horizons

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – MARCH 2011: Harvard University’s media production center has added a SoundField Mark V B-Format microphone to its existing inventory, which already includes a SoundField SPS422B mic and an SP451 surround sound processor. The Mark V is being used to make stereo and surround-sound recordings for various departments at the university, including the music faculty.

Anthony Di Bartolo, manager of the university’s media production center, provides audio, video and multimedia services across the university, and has himself long been a user of SoundField microphones for jazz and acoustic recording, including the older ST250 portable microphone system. “We already have an SPS422B and the SP451 surround processor here,” he explains, “but we were looking for another mic or system that would enable us to record in surround. NCAC SELECTS UNIVERSITIES TO RECEIVE STUDENT TRAVEL AWARDS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The National Council of Acoustical Consultants (NCAC) has selected four universities from a list of eight qualified university programs to be the first to receive the NCAC Student Travel Award. In this inaugural year of the program, Purdue University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, University of Kansas, and University of Nebraska – Lincoln each will be awarded $500 to send one student in their respective acoustics/noise control program to present a technical paper at an upcoming Acoustical Society of America (ASA) or Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE) conference. more

Integrated Microwave Technologies (IMT) Names David Walker Vice President, Product Development

LAS VEGAS, MARCH 24, 2011 – Integrated Microwave Technologies (IMT), a Business Unit within the Vitec Group’s Videocom Division, and a leader in advanced digital microwave systems serving the Broadcast, Sports & Entertainment and MAG (Military, Aerospace & Government) markets, is pleased to announce that David Walker has been appointed to the position of Vice President, Product Development. As Vice President, Product Development, IMT, Walker will act as the essential interface between the company’s Engineering, Sales & Marketing, Senior Management and customer base. In addition, Walker will also have oversight in IMT’s process of bringing new products to market.

Walker has also held progressively more responsible engineering positions with MKS Instruments, Thales Broadcast, Glenayre and Emerson Electric.

Innovative music learning software gains new MIDI functionality
