JESSUP, MARYLAND – MARCH 2011: Working on a follow-up album to its 2009 debut, rock and roll super group Chickenfoot has recently finished recording new tracks on a 16-channel API 1608. The band, comprised of Sammy Hagar (Van Halen), Michael Anthony (Van Halen), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and solo musician Joe Satriani, worked at Hagar’s Red Rocker Sound studio – an annex to the lead singer’s house that was once a rehearsal space. According to veteran recording and mixing engineer Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Guns ‘N Roses, Metallica), the 1608 played a pivotal role in capturing Chickenfoot’s music.
“I absolutely love the sound of the 1608,” said Fraser. “It’s classic API. The 1608 shares the reliability of other API gear. In fact, it works so well and so transparently that I seldom had to think about the mechanics of what I was doing on the board. It was more
ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA – FEBRUARY 2011: The Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg, Florida designed the Archbishop Favalora Conference Center in nearby Lutz, Florida to be more than just a sterile and cerebral place for meetings. Built on an idyllic little lake and part of the larger Bethany Center, the new building sets a spiritual and reflective tone for the Diocese and for the other groups that rent it. Its three large meeting rooms can be combined depending on the nature of the event, and its three smaller rooms accommodate breakout sessions. A wraparound porch encourages informal conversation and camaraderie. When the center’s sound reinforcement and room combining system were not working correctly, it took the Diocese very little time to call in its audio engineering consultant of twenty years, Randi Crooks of Magnum Audio Group (Tampa, Florida), to gut and replace it. more
SEVIERVILLE, TENNESSEE – MARCH 2011: Picturesque Sevier County in eastern Tennessee serves as the western gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains. It is also the childhood home of country legend Dolly Parton and the current home of her theme park, Dollywood. The Sevier County Courthouse, where a bronze statue of Ms. Parton serves as a frequent backdrop in visitors’ photos, is an icon in its own right. Built in 1896, its grand architecture is a source of civic pride. The Sevier County Commissioners meet in an annex to the courthouse, which seats seventy-five people. The public attends the meetings, which have, at times, devolved into heated arguments in which commissioners speak (or shout!) without listening to others. Partly to rein them in and partly to correct a collection of other audio issues, the county called on Kelvin Francis of Knoxville-based KC Sound. Francis relied on SymNet open-architecture DSP to deliver more

Boston, MA––The trial resulting from the lawsuit filed by Andover-based Fishman Transducers, Inc. on January 17, 2007 against Stephen Paul d/b/a “Esteban,” Daystar Productions, and HSN Interactive, LLC, started today in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
The lawsuit is for unfair competition, trademark infringement, and false advertising in violation of the Federal Lanham Act.
Fishman alleges in its complaint that Esteban, Daystar, and HSN advertised, promoted, and sold Esteban guitars while falsely misrepresenting to the public that the Esteban guitars were equipped with Fishman electronic components.
According to the lawsuit, these false and misleading statements have been made in television infomercials as well as on numerous websites.
In fact, Fishman has sold no electronic components to Esteban or any other party for use in Esteban guitars, and it has not authorized either Esteban or Daystar to use the name and more
