Solotech flies L-ACOUSTICS system for ceremony’s 40th anniversary
TORONTO, Ontario — Canada’s biggest night in music, the 2011 Juno Awards, returned to its Toronto birthplace this year for the first time in over a decade. Staged at the Air Canada Centre, nearly eight million Canadians tuned in to watch some portion of the 2.5 hour, 40th anniversary live CTV broadcast, which featured rousing performances by Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Sarah McLachlan and many other popular native artists.
While Le Studio Mobile and LiveWire Remote Recorders handled the broadcast audio, Montreal-based Solotech was tasked with providing sound reinforcement within the 20,000-seat venue. To deliver the best possible concert experience Solotech opted to deploy an L-ACOUSTICS K1 loudspeaker system. more

Stockholm, Sweden – April 2011… With nine vocalists on stage performing directly in front of the orchestra, no visible microphones allowed on the performers, a mixture of classical music, opera, and selections from musicals, and the need for both live sound reinforcement and recording, Sweden’s annual Epiphany concert turned to the experienced Lars Wern to serve as their head of live sound.
The Swedish Television Company SVT and Swedish radio broadcaster SR organized the Epiphany concert—or “Trettondagskonsert in Swedish—in Stockholm’s Berwaldhallen concert hall, home of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Anu Tali of Estonia served as conductor. more

Le Fly Pak was used for mixing the live webcast at the Mojave Stage.
“With shows and projects getting bigger and bigger, Coachella being one of them, we thought it would be important to make our Fly Pak system as flexible as possible, states Ian-C. Charbonneau, mixing engineer, LeMobile. “We added four MADI cards to the DM2000 allowing an all-digital interface between our Pro Tools rig, Apogee converters, and the console. The MADI cards also provide more flexibility when using the console with our other recording systems, like Le Box or even Le Mobile.

United Kingdom—Satisfactorily marrying historic buildings to the complex audio/visual requirements of the 21st Century is a very delicate and complex business, but a brand new installation at one of the UK ‘s most famous churches – London’s Westminster Abbey – has achieved the ideal balance. At the core of the system are Yamaha DME series digital mixing engines, which help to provide the audio side of the installation with tremendous flexibility.
Designed by audio consultants Michael Hyland & Associates, installed by Winchester‑based Whitwam Ltd and supervised by the Abbey‘s Clerk of the Works, the project has included the installation of speech reinforcement, induction loop and CCTV systems, along with video, audio and data distribution facilities.
As with all large cathedrals, Westminster Abbey covers a huge area and has many flat surfaces, which make for a highly reverberant acoustic space. It‘s a tribute to all involved, therefore, that the installation and more
