Sennheiser MKH 8050 Helps Deliver Transparent Sound to Winnipeg’s Centennial Concert Hall

Winnipeg – May 31, 2011 – For over four decades The Centennial Concert Hall — part of the Manitoba Centennial Center, the region’s most prestigious hub for performing arts science and culture — has served as home to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the Manitoba Opera and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Considered the region’s crown jewel of performance spaces, the hall also hosts a wide variety of artists, dance companies and musicians from all over the globe. Recently, the 253,014 square-foot venue was outfitted with a new audio system and a full complement of Sennheiser microphones to improve the overall listener experience. The system featured 18 Sennheiser MKH8050 super cardioid microphones, which were chosen for their transparency and ability to capture the natural acoustics of the performance space.

FOO FIGHTERS’ WASTING LIGHT RECORDED AND MIXED ENTIRELY ON AN API 1608

JESSUP, MARYLAND – MAY 2011: Proof that analog audio is a powerful force in the digital age, the Foo Fighters’ recent analog effort, Wasting Light, debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart last month. The album, which moved more than 235,000 copies in its first week, was recorded and mixed completely on a 32-channel API 1608 console in frontman Dave Grohl’s untreated garage and spare room. Although many consoles would have fit Grohl’s spacing and input requirements, the API 1608 and its sixteen-channel expander stood out as the perfect mix of uncompromising professionalism, flexible topology and functional size.
