STRASBOURG, France – Arte, the French/German TV network, has upgraded the facilities at its Strasbourg HQ with a major HARMAN Studer routing solution, supplied by Audiopole, Studer’s French distributors.
The network’s channel requirements are substantial because, since Arte is an international joint venture, programs cater technically for audiences from both countries. This requires double titling, opposite language subtitling or dubbing, with hosts speaking both languages alternately and generally two separate stereo feeds (available through DVB-T, satellite television and digital cable).
Arte began transmission in 1992 as a multi cultural European channel and is now broadcasting 24/7 to France, Germany and the rest of Europe. Audiopole’s Jean-Philippe Blanchard has supported the station’s news and production studios with product since the sale of two Studer Vista 6 consoles a couple of years ago.

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – MAY 2011: From Symetrix, engineers of the infinitely flexible and expandable SymNet 8×8 DSP and the ‘zero-learning-curve’ Jupiter processors, comes Solus, which couples the most powerful open-architecture SymNet processing to date with cost-saving fixed input/output counts for small to mid-size installations. With the easy-to-use SymNet Designer software, integrators can either use or modify the dozens of existing Solus templates or build entirely new designs from scratch. Currently, there are two Solus hardware units that differ only in their input and output counts. Solus 4 has four mic/line (+phantom) inputs and four outputs, whereas Solus 8 has eight mic/line (+phantom) inputs and eight outputs. Unlike other members of the SymNet family, the Solus processors forego input/output expansion in favor of reduced cost.
The Solus 4 and Solus 8 share the same rich set of communications and interface possibilities. Each boasts Ethernet, ARC port, RS-232 port, two control more
