Peavey Electronics & Crest Audio on King of Wake tour
With its dramatic aerial acrobatics, wave-hopping stunts and adrenalized production, professional wakeboarding is a summertime extreme-sports tradition. Since 2005, the King of Wake championship tournament has tied the sport’s most prestigious contests together into one ultimate tour to see who rules the wake.
But King of Wake isn’t just demanding on the athletes—it presents a demanding sound reinforcement environment for audio engineers, as well. With single events drawing up to 10,000 spectators, there is a high-power need over a large audience area, all under extreme heat and humid conditions.
The King of Wake tour has proven the perfect match for Peavey Electronics’ vast line of professional audio loudspeakers, processors and microphones, as well as control systems from Peavey® Architectural Acoustics® and power amplifiers and mixers from Crest Audio®. more

OXNARD, California — Rat Sound Systems, Inc. of Oxnard, California has now further expanded its significant L-ACOUSTICS inventory with the addition of 12 KIVA and four KILO enclosures, four SB28 subs and an LA8-equipped LA-RAK touring rack. This acquisition follows the company’s recent purchase of 18 KARA enclosures earlier this year.
According to Dave Rat, “We currently have six KIVA and four KILO out on the Bluebird Cafe Stage of Willie Nelson’s Country Throwdown tour and, despite their tiny size, they’re proving to be surprisingly loud and clear. We anticipate that they’ll come in handy for use as stage lip fills, VIP area fills, portable small-format standalone systems and more.” more

ETZGEN, SWITZERLAND: Driving 30 minutes from Zurich, past rolling hills and ancient forests, a recording artist might not expect to find a world class recording and mixing facility. But, in the little village of Etzgen stands Synphonic Recording Studios, a three-room facility built within an abandoned corner shop.
“After beginning my career in the basement of my parent’s house decades ago, I built my first professional studio in an industrial building, in 1997,” explains Synphonic founder, and principal engineer Tom Lumholtz. For my new studio I wanted to make sure that the acoustics, aesthetics and technology were all done in the most professional manner.”
Synphonic is a full room-within-room structure, designed to provide sound isolation from neighboring buildings, and the living quarters of the owner and his wife on the upper floors. The control room is highlighted by an elegantly curved, backlit wall with soffit-mounted ADAM S5 more
