Sony Digital Wireless

Sony Pro Audio was showing the digital wireless system incorporating the DWT-B01/DWR-S01D/DWA-01D, featuring a digital modulator and encryption scheme. Seems everyone wants security, with good reason. The system in place in L.A., working a reality show, is capable of 12 channels simultaneously on a 6 MHz bandwidth TV channel.

Going EVO!

Here with man-about-town Nate Cooper from Studio Network Solutions. He’s now running around L.A. and drumming up business on the lots, in the post houses and anywhere else they’ll have him. But right now, he’s got a hot new product named EVO. Nate?

Thanks Tom, I’m just powering through day three of NAB. I think the entire floor is hung over at this point, but I do believe you were the one that told me the real business happens after 11pm and always over drinks…

So, I’m excited as we just released our new video storage solution. I won’t get too technical but anything you want storage wise is built into one box. 1Gb iSCSI, 4Gb Fibre, 10Gb iSCSI, SAN and NAS. Pretty much it’s gonna take over the storage world, not that were too cocky about it. Anyhow, thanks for letting me blog about our new toys. Cheers.

Editorial By The Mile

Mix Features Editor Sarah Jones is keeping track of her NAB mileage with a cool little pedometer. Did you know it’s 1/4 mile from the North Hall to the Hilton Lobby? I’m thinking the South Hall must be nearly a mile from the Hilton and I know I’ve walked at least a few miles a day in my booth travels (with a broken toe no less!). I wonder if I can take the mileage off my taxes?

Packed Like Sardines

108,232.

No, that’s not how many steps I’ve logged with my sassy new pedometer. It’s the official headcount here at this behemoth show. This year’s the biggest ever, and since it’s our last day, we still have a lot more booths to hit before we leave. Stay tuned!

Marantz Shows Pro CD Recorder

I talked to Brian Gorman at Marantz who officially put the last nail in the cassette player’s coffin; Marantz no longer manufactures the format. So it’s onward and upward for the company who are going full speed into flash and other solid state media for audio storage. Their CDR310 pro CD player features a built-in microphone preamps with 48V phantom power an onboard microphone and built-in CD-R/-RW burner.
